Songfacts®:

  • Wing Stop franchise owner Rick Ross is not shy in shouting out his affinity for lemon pepper wings. On "Blk & Wht," for instance, he raps:

    Wingstop owner, lemon pepper aroma

So when Drake hooked up with Ross for this Scary Hours 2 cut it seemed right that he named it after The Teflon Don's favorite chicken seasoning. Drizzy concurs, rapping:

Lemme get a lemon pepper order, please

The rest of the track finds Ross and Drake each freestyling a verse where they brag about their lavish lifestyles and lament the pressures arising from their fame.
  • During his verse, Drake also raps about picking up his son Adonis from school and his encounters with the teachers. They ask him about his fellow superstars such as Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj. Drizzy also reflects on his good relationship with Adonis's mother, Sophie Brussaux.

I sent her the child support, she sent me the heart emoji
  • A sample of Quadron's track "Pressure" runs intermittently throughout the song.

I been tryin', tryin', tryin', tryin'
To get you under my pressure

It is taken from the live version of the Los Angeles-based Danish duo's 2009 tune.
  • The song is from Drake's Scary Hours 2 EP. The track fits seamlessly into the record's theme of the expectations and pressures of a successful artist in the music industry.
  • Drake and Rick Ross have a long history of collaborations. Their list of pair-ups includes "Aston Martin Music," "Stay Schemin'," "Lord Knows" and "Gold Roses."
  • Drake's in-house collaborator Boi-1da produced the track along with Austin Powerz, FnZ, and Keanu Beats.
  • This originally featured another Florida Rapper, Rod Wave, rather than Rick Ross. However, Wave didn't like the way his voice came out and knowing being on a Drake record is a big deal he got cold feet and scratched his contribution.
