Songfacts®:

  • The song title doesn't appear in the song, but refers to a milestone encounter in Drake's career. In 2008, Lil Wayne was given some of the Toronto MC's music from Rap-A-Lot founder J. Prince's son, Jas Prince, and he immediately called Drake to invite him to fly to Houston. On November 18, 2008 the Toronto MC flew to the Texas city and had his first meeting with Lil Wayne. He subsequently signed to Weezy's Young Money label.
  • Drake raps here about his love for Houston and a lavish lifestyle. He samples DJ Screw's chopped and screwed version of Kris Kross' "Da Streets Ain't Right" from the classic freestyle June 27 tape. DJ Screw, who died in 2000 of a drug overdose, was the creator of the now-famous Screwed and Chopped DJ technique. He has had a substantial influence on Drake's music.
