Songfacts®:

  • Drake had a rumored two-month fling with Jennifer Lopez after the pair spent some time in the studio together in late 2016. This song features a sample of the Latino star's debut hit "If You Had My Love." Elsewhere, Drizzy compares his new love as "teenage fever." It may be that Drake is referencing here the exciting feelings he got from having a relationship with his one-time teenage crush, J-Lo.
  • Jennifer Lopez is also referenced on another More Life track "Free Smoke" when Drake raps about drunk texting her. In addition "Get It Together" is rumored to be about their alleged relationship.
  • During his birthday edition of OVO Sound Radio in October 2016, Drake dropped a remix of London rapper Dave's "Wanna Know." Although Drake didn't include the song on More Life, he still managed to sneak a clip of Dave speaking onto the outro for this song.

Dave explained on Ebro In the Morning on Hot 97 that he was unaware that Drake had lined up the sample for this song, and it came from a genuine conversation he'd been having.
  • Hagler, a Canadian producer based in Toronto's east end, supplied the beat. He has worked in the past with the likes of Vince Staples ("Blue Suede") and ASAP Ferg ("I Love You"). Hagler has also collaborated with Drake on previous occasions, co-producing "Furthest Thing" and "Trophies."
  • The beat originated from a tragic event. "I was going through a crazy situation," Hagler told Genius. "I lost my nephew in a fatal car accident so that just pulled everything out of me. I put everything into the beat and that's where that came from."
