Songfacts®:

  • Drake takes aim at several rappers on this diss freestyle. The main targets appear to be Pusha T and Kid Cudi, allowing him to kill "two birds" with "one stone."
  • Drake calls out Pusha T for relying on his drug dealing past for much of his content, when in reality he was only engaged in low-level street activity. The Toronto MC pictures him bagging up weed while watching Scarface, the Al Pacino-starring movie about a powerful drug kingpin.

But really it's you with all the drug dealer stories that's gotta stop though
You made a couple chops and now you think you Chopo
f you ask me though you ain't lining in the trunk with kilo's
You bagging weed with all your ni--as watching Pacino

Drake's beef with Pusha T dates back to May 24, 2012, when King Push released a song titled "Exodus 23:1" on which he publicly dissed the Toronto MC over Dreezy's own beat.
  • The track may also directed at other MCs who cling to drug dealing rap personas such as Jay-Z, with whom Drake has a history of subliminal disses.
  • Drake appears to call out Kid Cudi with the lyric "You were 'The Man on the Moon,' now you just go through your phases. Life of the angry and famous." (Cudi's first two albums were Man on the Moon: The End of Day and Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager). Also, the titular "stone" may also be short for "stoner" as Cudi is well known for his druggy persona.

The mocking of the Day 'n' Nite rapper caused controversy on social media as many saw this as a slight to his depression and suicidal instincts. Cudi had checked into rehab just a couple of weeks before Drake dropped this song.
  • Drake's beef with Cudi started in September 2016, when the Cleveland rapper went on a Twitter rant in which he accused Drake and Kanye West of dismissing him as a legitimate artist in the industry. The Toronto MC responded on September 14, 2016 during a Summer Sixteen tour stop in Oakland California. He mocked: "Boy, you getting way too high. You need to 'Cud it," in the middle of his performance of O.T. Genasis's hit, "Cut It."
  • The phrase "to kill two birds with one stone" is an English idiom meaning to solve two problems with a single action. The German equivalent translates as "To swat two flies at once" and the Italians say "to catch two pigeons with one bean."
  • Kid Cudi responded to Drake's lyrical diss by sending a tweet directly to the Toronto MC from rehab. "Say it to [my] face, pussy," Cudi wrote. "You think it's a game. I wanna see you say it to my face. I'll be out soon. Promise."
  • Kanye West is listed as a co-writer and producer (along with Noah "40" Shebib). Shebib explained to Genius Yeezy made the track "from some drums he had given me," hence the credit. West's involvement is especially interesting given his expressions of support for Kid Cudi after his former protégé went into rehab. However, it's known at what stage he was aware of Drake's offending lyric.
