  • This is Patterson Hood's response to the supremacist massacre of a black church congregation in South Carolina, an outrage perpetuated when the state left the Confederate flag flying high while every other flag in the country was at half-mast. The Truckers co-frontman told Uncut magazine:

    "There was understandably a huge outcry about this, which led to me being asked to write an op-ed piece for the New York Times about the Confederate flag. The song just grew out of that."
