Songfacts®:

  • Duran Duran's lead single from Paper Gods, this song features guitar licks from Nile Rodgers and guest vocals on the chorus from Janelle Monáe. Duran Duran and Nile Rodgers previously teamed for the UK band's iconic hit single "Wild Boys." The Chic disco legend also co-produced Duran Duran's Notorious album, and remixed their US #1 single "The Reflex" to great success.
  • The song was co-written and co-produced by Mark Ronson. It marked the first time that the English musician had worked with Nile Rodgers.
  • It was Nile Rodgers who suggested Janelle Monáe for this song; her vocals were recorded in Los Angeles. Drummer Roger Taylor recalled to HMV.com: "John (Taylor, bass) and Simon (Le Bon, vocals) went over for the session, I think it was literally a few hours, got the part done, flew straight back. That was it!"
