  • The first taste of Easton Corbin's third album finds the singer haunted by his involvement with a girl. He sings:

    "Your dress, my shirt
We love, I live and never learn
    I crash, I burn
    You leave, I hurt
    Like clockwork."

Corbin explained: "['Clockwork'] is about this guy who's tortured by this girl that, I don't know if he necessarily loves her, but there's some kind of attraction there. It's kind of like an addiction, I guess you'd say a little bit, that he can't give it up, but he knows in the end it's not gonna end well, but it feels good while it's going on."
  • The night spent with the girl may have seemed like a good idea at the time, but by the next day the singer is regretting it. Said Corbin: "As a guy, a single guy, a girl calling you up in the middle of the night saying, 'Hey, can I come over?' That's not necessarily a bad thing. I don't know. It's kind of like drinking. It feels good. That buzz feels really great, but you know the next morning it's probably gonna hurt."
  • The song was written by Carson Chamberlain, Ashley Gorley and Wade Kirby, the same trio who penned Corbin's 2013 hit single, "All Over the Road." Corbin was drawn to the song in a couple of different ways, including the fact that he felt most people could relate to it. "The first time I heard that song, it really grabbed me melodically. I loved that melody, and for me, I guess, being a musician, a lot of times that's the first thing that really, really grabs me," he said.

"Lyrically, it was just as strong, and the subject matter of that song, everybody goes through that at some point in their life, especially us guys," Corbin added. "But usually when you think about that stereotypically, you think of the guy calling up the girl, but this time, it's turned around. It's a girl calling the guy, which I thought that was kind of interesting."
