Songfacts®:

  • El Chombo is a pseudonym for reggae producer Rodney Clark. This tongue-in-cheek nonsense song was discovered on You Tube by BBC Radio One DJ Scott Mills, and after the presenter championed the track there was a campaign on the station to get the song to #1. In the end, it only reached #20 in the chart.
  • The song is designed as gentle poke at the more extreme aspects of reggaeton music. Much of it consists of a string of barely comprehensible gibberish, consisting of various onomatopoeic sounds, but set to a catchy beat.
