Songfacts®:

  • Mr. Blue Sky: The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra is an album of fresh recordings of ELO's greatest hits by frontman Jeff Lynne, along with this new song. The LP was released on October 8, 2012 to coincide with Lynne's second solo release, Long Wave.
  • Regarding this song, Lynne told Billboard magazine: "That was written and tied in with the banking scandal a little bit. It was the general mood of the time like 2009 or something. It's a story about a guy who's not very pleased with lots of things that are going on."

  • Michelle Mitchell from Peterborough U.k. Jeff, is amazing. So unassuming, a music god. I’d love to see him.
  • Ed from Canton, OhA full album of remaking ELO's old songs was not a good idea. I would have liked it if Lynne would have added something different to each song, but instead it was just a repeat of the original.
