Songfacts®:

  • Ella Henderson first wrote this euphoric floor filler in the mid-2010s but after splitting from Simon Cowell's Syco label in 2018 she was unable to release it. The English singer eventually signed to Atlantic Records' Major Toms/Asylum and reworked the tune for her new label. Henderson told The Sun: "It's a message to myself about taking care of yourself physically and mentally and what I love about it is it's got an anthemic vibe - I was just really excited to bring it back."
  • Henderson wrote the song with Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter, whose other work as a pair includes Justin Bieber's "Sorry," Hailee Steinfeld's "Love Myself," and Selena Gomez' "Lose You to Love Me." Henderson explained to Official Charts.com:

"When I wrote 'Take Care of You,' I couldn't put into words how I was feeling, but alongside two of my favorite writers in the world, Julia and Justin, they helped me turn my thoughts into song. This song is for everyone I love, as well as a message of self-care - a personal reminder to look after myself, both mentally and physically."
  • Production comes courtesy of Noel Zancanella, who co-wrote and produced Henderson's worldwide hit "Ghost." Daniel Blume and Joris Mur are also credited as producers.
  • Henderson had to get creative with the video due to the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. She shot the clip in her garden and all her family got involved, including her brother, who co-directed and was on camera.
  • Released on February 2021 during the COVID lockdown, "Let's Go Home Together" gave Henderson her fifth UK Top 10 hit. "When we released it, it was a time when everyone just missed going to the pub, you know? It helped remind people that we would be together again and you can actually meet someone in a bar and take them home," she told OfficialCharts.com. "Seeing that song resonate felt good, I'm going to lie. I had it with me for such a long time!"
