Songfacts®:

  • Not to be confused with the Dr. Dog song "Mirror, Mirror," this original piano-based composition - sans comma - was written by Elle Holmes, who at just 15 surely had a life if not a sparkling career in front of her. Sadly, that was not to be; on May 26, 2014 she committed suicide in China; her mother was working at the British School Of Beijing. Elle was said to have battled "hidden demons," including apparently anorexia.
  • The song includes the lyric:

    "Mirror mirror don't you see
What you show her is deadly?
    You killed that little girl."

Which surely gives a clue to what was going on in her head. The song, which runs to 4 minutes 32 seconds, was released by her mother soon after Elle's death. >>>
