Songfacts®:

  • This is the third single from English singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding debut album, Lights.
  • In an interview with the BBC, Goulding was asked what her songs are about. She replied: "Everything - I sing often about love and heartbreak, not just my own but other people's stories. I'm fascinated by tales. Also, like in 'Guns & Horses,' I talk about something modern which is someone being at a computer all the time. So I take on traditional subjects and also dark things like how technology can ruin things and the emptiness of some relationships."
  • Goulding told Sky Songs about this tune: "I wrote Guns And Horses about a romance that began online (hence the lyric 'you found me, at a screen you sit at permanently'). I wanted the guy to feel more than he did for me but through no fault of his own he couldn't. It's a song about frustration essentially. My producer (Starsmith) made me laugh at the end, I can't repeat what he called me though."
  • The song's music video was directed by Petro and filmed at Los Angeles' Griffith Park.
