Songfacts®:

  • English singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding's debut album, Lights both celebrates romance and anticipates the love hangover to come. She told the NME: "I spent the majority of my time recording this album in my producer Starsmith's bedroom in Bromley. It is made up of songs that all started on a guitar over a period of about two years. A number of the songs vent romantic victories and failures."
  • This song was originally titled "Swimming Pool." Goulding explained to Sky Songs that it was, "written when Fin (Starsmith) and I were messing around, but we liked it so much we developed it and it made the album."
