Songfacts®:

  • Eminem has courted controversy throughout his rap career, but on "No Regrets," he says he wouldn't change anything. Rather, haters have provoked his politically incorrect remarks and destructive behavior.

All the hate, can't tell exactly where it stems from
    But it's happening again, huh?
Y'all used to be in my corner
Now you just backed me in one
Innocent bystanders, I'm bound to hit some
  • The Detroit legend alludes during the song to some notable feuds, including how his beef with Machine Gun Kelly was provoked by MGK tweeting that Em's daughter was "hot."

They talk about my daughters hopin' I fly off of the handle
'Cause my first thought is to trample and write a thousand bars
But sometimes it's like dropping' an anvil on a house of cards

Em admits to one regret on "No Regrets." On Kamikaze's "Fall," the rapper fired a homophobic slur at Tyler, The Creator, and smeared his fellow Odd Future artist Earl Sweatshirt. Em later admitted to Sway in an interview that he went too far, a regret that he reiterates here.

Misplacin' my anger enough to give Earl and Tyler, The Creator the brunt
Shoulda never made a response, shoulda just aimed for the fake ones
  • Don Toliver from Travis Scott's Cactus Jack fold performs the chorus. DA Doman, who co-produced the trap banger with Eminem, recalled to Rolling Stone how Toliver recorded the hook at the 11th hour.

After writing the hook for "No Regrets" in November 2019, Doman sent the reference track to two other demo singers he usually work with, but it didn't work out. "It didn't quite get the emotion that I was singing it with, even though I can't sing well," the producer explained.

Doman hustled at the last minute to get Toliver on the track; the Cactus Jack artist hopped on it just days before the album dropped.
