  • The band's vocalist and guitarist Tom Clarke once had a job selling TV's in a local co-op shop. It was during one slow afternoon on the shop floor that he came up with the lyrics to this song. In The Daily Mail July 6, 2007, Clarke said: "'Away From Here' is very literal. I was in a job that I needed to get away from, at least for a while. So, one day, I bought a second-hand Volvo for 50 pounds and drove to Scotland on the spur of the moment."
