Songfacts®:

  • This single by the English post-hardcore group Enter Shikari was produced by the band and Dan Weller during the summer of 2010. Bass guitarist Chris Batten told Examiner.com it was a lengthy process to complete the track. He explained: "It was written a good few months ago, and we recorded it over a weekend in between a tour. We only literally finished it last week because we were mastering and mixing it while we were on tour, so it was done by email. It was a very long arduous process but we just got done with it and did a video for it as well."
  • Drummer Rob Rolfe explained to Examiner.com how this song is a merger of several different ideas. Said Rolfe: "For our single 'Destabilise' we had three or four different songs we were working on, and we were like, 'Oh yeah this is going to be really good' and right at the last minute we changed it to what ended up being 'Destabilise' now. There are always tons of ideas."
  • The song was also released as a very limited edition coloured vinyl 7" (backed by live favourite "Motherstep/Mothership" recorded at the band's Hammersmith Apollo show back in February 2010), which was made available only from independent record stores on 29th November 2010.
  • The release was Enter Shikari's first since exiting their arrangement with Atlantic / Warners, and marked a return to running Ambush Reality on a fully independent basis.
