Songfacts®:

  • This heartwarming acoustic number depicting two lovers in a storm finds Ed O'Brien duetting with Laura Marling. He told Uncut magazine:

"I love Laura as an artist. Her voice comes from such a deep soulful place. I wanted a female voice on 'Cloak Of The Night.' She was the first and pretty much only person I thought of. Recording was very daunting because I respect her so hugely - the most nervous I was the whole session."
  • Laura Marling also guests on the Earth track "Mass." Though O'Brien had never met Marling, he emailed her when she was on tour and she came down for an afternoon to lay down some vocals.
