Songfacts®:

  • Running to around 4 minutes 19 seconds, this is a tribute song although it is spoken rather than sung. Eric Bell and Gary Moore were both born in Belfast, nearly five years apart. The older man was a founder member of Thin Lizzy; on his departure, Phil Lynott brought in not one but two guitarists; Moore's tenure was 1974, 1977 and then 1978-9. Although they were never in the band at the same time, they came together in August 2005 for the One Night In Dublin concert on what would have been Lynott's 56th birthday. The two went back much further though; as Bell points out in the song, he first met Gary Moore when the younger man was 11 years old. Moore died in Spain on February 6, 2011 aged just 58, but fans will recognize the guitar style, which is probably the most fitting thing about this tribute. >>>
