Songfacts®:

  • This was released as the first single from Old Sock, the 21st studio album by Eric Clapton. "I Feel For You" songstress Chaka Khan sings back-up.
  • The story behind the disc's name is that after hearing David Bowie's comeback single, "Where Are We Now?," Clapton sent a message, thanking him for such a beautiful song. Bowie replied appreciatively, referring to the guitarist as "Old Sock," whereupon Clapton asked Bowie's permission to use the phrase as his album title.
  • The album cover is a self-portrait by Clapton taken on his iPhone in Antigua.
