Songfacts®:

  • Penned by Eric Paslay with Corey Crowder and Erik Dylan, this track finds him singing of his belief that there are angels doing good in a world filled with bad news. "As of late, our world has been impacted by tragedy of all kinds," Paslay said. "I'm so grateful we can use 'Angels in This Town' to shine a light on all the good that happens every day in our world. I'm excited for it to be heard and for it to bring hope and positivity into people's lives."
  • The single features artwork by Kelsey Montagu. Paslay said of the Nashville artist: "Her signature, #whatliftsyou and her imagery really go hand-in-hand with what 'Angels In This Town' is all about."
  • The song was built around the concept of guardian angels during a songwriting retreat at a rental house in Gulf Shores, Alabama. "You don't know why God doesn't send angels all the time," reflected Paslay to Billboard magazine. "But the fact that He does, when He doesn't have to, is a pretty amazing thing."
  • The second verse finds Paslay recalling an incident when he fell asleep at the wheel and woke up just in time to miss an accident "by the skin of your tire."
