Songfacts®:

  • Ester Dean is best known as the songwriter of many of Rihanna's hits, including "Rude Boy" and "What's My Name. However she has also had some success under her own name, achieving a top 40 hit with her song "Drop It Low." This song finds her teaming up with Nicki Minaj. Dean previously worked with the Queens MC when she co-wrote and sang on "Super Bass."
  • Whilst Dean's hook finds her telling her man that she'd rather have his time than his money, Minaj's verse features some of her trademark quips. "Money so offensive, ni--as call me Elway," is a reference to former Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway, who is one of the top quarterbacks ever to play American football.
