  • This song finds Amy Lee wailing, "Follow your heart 'til it bleeds." Speaking to Spin magazine, the singer explained the song's "seize the day" message. "It's about understanding that this life isn't forever, and how you have to live it, embrace even the pain, before it's all over," she said. "As much as it hurts, it just means you're alive. So don't be so afraid to get hurt that you miss out on living."
  • The song finds Evanescence adopting more of an electronic sound. "I remember when I first heard MGMT, their first record - I loved it, loved it," frontwoman Amy Lee told Rolling Stone. "I have always loved Portishead, Massive Attack, those electro things. I finally found the sweet spot was combining the two things, combining Evanescence with some new elements."
  • "End Of The Dream" is one of Amy Lee's favorite Evanescence tracks. In her Songfacts interview, she said: "I'm remembering a moment walking through a cemetery, actually, and just thinking and feeling. And that song came out of the beauty and the pain and the strength that comes out of not being afraid. The point of the song really is, it's worth it to feel. It's worth it to hurt, rather than to be numb. I know I've sung about that before in different ways, but I think in that song it takes it to a more personal place, and I love that about it."
