Go Home

Album: Evil Stig (1995)

Songfacts®:

  • This song has a truly terrible inspiration. In the small hours of July 7, 1993, Mia Zapata was kidnapped, raped and murdered after leaving the Comet Tavern in Seattle to walk home. It would be over a decade before her killer was brought to book. Like "M.I.A." by 7 Year Bitch, "Go Home" was dedicated to Zapata.
  • Written by Joan Jett and Kathleen Hanna (who formed Evil Stig for the project), the accompanying video shows Jett being attacked while riding the subway. Not everyone was happy with this; Zapata's bandmate Andy Kessler said he felt that "these rock stars" were capitalizing on the fate of his best friend, although he appears to have changed his mind later. >>>
