Songfacts®:

  • Tie dye art has long been associated with peace and love, and that's the vibe evrYwhr (Michael Jefferson) brings to this track, where he sings:

Peace and love is what we on
    Souls on a marathon

"'Tie Dye' was inspired by self-love," he said. "We all get to fall in love with our own unique journey in this lifetime. We are beautiful, we are colorful, we are different; each day learning to better embrace our hues and stand strong in our individuality. We are Tie Dye."
  • Musically, the song is free flowing, an aural representation of the tye dye pattern. evrywhr wrote it with Brandon Sims, and it was produced by Blair Taylor, who has also worked with G-Eazy and 2 Chainz.
  • evrYwhr made his name as a songwriter in 2013 with the Lecrae tracks "Confessions" and "Violence." Raised in Port Huron, Michigan, he made his way to Los Angeles in 2010 and started releasing his own music in 2017. "Tie Dye," released as a single in 2020, is part of his debut album, issued the following year.
