Songfacts®:

  • In this upbeat dance song, the singer is looking to rekindle the fire in her love life that has been doused by slog of work and responsibility. She's ready to take her man away to a place where they can reconnect.
  • "Come Go With Me" was the first hit for Exposé, a glamorous girl group that was among the first Cuban-influenced pop bands to come out of Miami in the late 1980s. The group members weren't Cuban, but their songwriter/producer, Lewis Martineé, was. A longtime DJ, he created the group to record his freestyle dance tunes - this was a very popular genre in the late '80s.

The original group had a regional hit in South Florida with "Point Of No Return" in 1984, which landed them a deal with Arista Records. When Arista issued the song in 1985, it went to #1 on the Dance chart. Another single, "Exposed To Love," was released before the group started work on their debut album.

Not long after they started the sessions, there was conflict between the group, Martinee, and Arista that led to the entire group being replaced. The first replacement member, Jeanette Juardo, became their main singer and handled the lead vocals on "Come Go With Me."

When the Exposure album was released, "Come Go With Me" was the lead single and gave them a solid hit, reaching #5 in the US and getting lots of play in dance clubs. The original version of "Point Of No Return" (with the original group) was included on the album, but Arista had the new group members re-record it so it could be the next single - that version then replaced the original on subsequent pressings of the album. It also went to #5, and two more hits followed, "Let Me Be The One" (#7) and Seasons Change (#1). This made Exposé the first group ever to chart four Top 10 hits from their debut album.
  • The song's writer, Lewis Martineé, ended up using the original verse he wrote for it on a song called "(C'mon) Feel The Need," which went to Jermaine Jackson for his 1989 album Don't Take It Personal. Martineé wrote a new verse for "Come Go With Me."
