Songfacts®:

  • Faces was fronted by Rod Stewart, who sang lead on this one and wrote the lyric. It's one of many songs where Rod is addressing a girl, in this case letting her know that he can be a clod, but he loves her very much. She's the one who can make him dance, sing, or do any old thing.
  • This was the last official single by the Faces, which by this point were billed as "Rod Stewart And The Faces" because Stewart had become quite famous. It peaked at #12 on the UK singles chart over Christmas 1974.

The Faces released their first album in 1970 just as Stewart was picking up speed as a solo artist. In 1971 Stewart landed a global hit with "Maggie May," but he stayed with Faces until they split in 1975. The guitarist in the group was Ron Wood, who then joined The Rolling Stones.
  • The song's full title is "You Can Make Me Dance, Sing Or Anything (Even Take The Dog For A Walk, Mend A Fuse, Fold Away The Ironing Board, Or Any Other Domestic Shortcomings)." At 115 letters, it holds the record for the longest song title ever to hit the UK Top 40.
  • In his Anthology collection, Rod Stewart called this "a chirpy little song but not one of my personal favorites," adding, "I don't think the Faces ever reached their full potential in the studio - a shame."

  • Ronnie Laneole from LondonWell, technically it was released as a single by Faces/Rod Stewart. I am not sure why as Rod Stewart was a member of Faces. It's a bit like a record being credited to The Rolling Stones/Mick Jagger.
