Songfacts®:

  • This was the first Faith No More song featuring Mike Patton on vocals.
  • The video was mocking hair metal bands that were popular at the time. In our interview with bassist Billy Gould, he said the promotional clip "didn't get much traction." Consequently, Faith No More decided to shoot a video for another song from The Real Thing - "Epic."
  • This was used in the video game Madden NFL 2005.
  • The Heavy Metal band, Five Finger Death Punch, covered this song for the bonus edition of their 2007 album, The Way of the Fist. This cover was later included on the soundtrack for the 2012 superhero film, The Avengers.

  • Niels from NetherlandsThis to me was an awesome opener of an awesome album. I’m aware of their first two albums but here it all clicked (with the new frontman as well) and the fairly unique blend of rock (metal even), funk, pop and whatever was delivered with a kinetic and mysterious vibe and was captured by the recording very well… for me this album was their only really enjoyable outing from A to Z. Saw them in Amsterdam that tour, just as great live.

(btw I didn’t like the reissue where the Black Sabbath cover(s) which were added ruined the terrific atmosphere of closing instrumental track ‘Woodpecker from Mars’)
  • Luna Loud from Royal Woods, MichiganSounds like love (lust) at first sight. In the third verse it seems like he finally got to third base and is doing her.
  • Eliseu from Canoas, BrazilZero, there are some on Discogs for sale:

  • Zero from Nowhere, NjI love this band and have all their albums except for We Care A Lot which is nearly impossible to find for a reasonable price. Does anyone know where I could get that album for no higher than $40? (I'll probably have to get the cassette or vinyl, or maybe download it.)
