Songfacts®:

  • This is a hedonistic electronic jam where Farruko celebrates his party lifestyle. He lives his life as he wants to, drinking, smoking and popping pills ("pepas") from when the sun comes out.
  • IAmChino, Sharo Towers, Keriel "K4G" Quiroz, and Axel Rafael Quezada Fulgencio's production starts off slowly, then gathers pace and morphs into a dance anthem with trumpets and powerful drumbeats.
  • Mike Ho directed the celebratory video, which shows an all-night rave with fireworks and dancers, and Farruko dancing on top of shipping containers. Bay Area native Mike Ho started as a photographer before becoming a videographer specializing in working with hip-hop and reggaeton artists. His other credits include Nicki Minaj's "Megatron" and Karol G's "Tusa."
  • The dance-rhythmic track climbed to the top of Spain's singles chart and also earned Farruko his first #1 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs. "Music is universal, and 'Pepas' felt right when we decided to record it," Farruko told Billboard. "It has foundations of reggaetón beats and I liked the vibe; it was something new for my usual scope of work or sound. I never thought it would be a #1."
  • Farruko performed the song live for the first time at the Baja Beach Festival in Mexico's Rosarito Beach on August 14, 2021.
