Songfacts®:

  • Streetrunner's hard-knocking production for this tune samples the distinctive bassline from "Don't Look Any Further," a 1984 single by former Temptations lead singer Dennis Edwards, featuring Siedah Garrett. The track is a sampling staple within the hip-hop community dating back to Eric B. & Rakim's 1987 single "Paid In Full." Gospel duo Mary Mary also borrowed from the song for their hit tune "Shackles (Praise You)."
  • The song's inspiration came from a visit Fat Joe made to an LL Cool J concert, where he heard the DJ seamlessly transition from LL Cool J's "Doin' It" to "Don't Look Any Further." The experience made the Bronx MC reminisce about the days of old school rap.

"It's such a classic, classic song," he told Billboard magazine. "Nobody touched that sample in a long time. So I wrote it down in my notes and ran straight to the studio. I called Streetrunner and was like 'Yo you gotta flip this, 2017, style because summer is almost coming - this is a summer banger.'"
  • That's Dre from production duo Cool & Dre on the hook. Cool & Dre are longtime collaborators of Fat Joe including the Remy Ma-assisted "All The Way Up."
  • The song's music video pays homage to the late The Notorious B.I.G., extravagant "Hypnotize" clip. "Biggie has been the logo for success, the logo for doing it big - from popping champagne, the ladies, the fashion," Fat Joe explained. "So we had to do it B.I.G. We're talking silk Hermes, Ace of Spades [champagne] spilling all over the place and diamonds. We brought the epitome of the '90s back."
