Songfacts®:

  • This is the title track of the second studio album released by former Fleet Foxes member Josh Tillman, under the pseudonym Father John Misty. Tillman told The Guardian his the choice of name is meaningless, he just liked the way it sounded: "Misty evokes either a beloved childhood horse or a stripper," he said.
  • I Love You, Honeybear is a love letter to Tillman's wife, film-maker Emma Garr. The titular and opening track introduces listeners to the relationship between the pair. The song has been a part of Tillman's live set since 2012.
