Songfacts®:

  • According to the Tejumola Olaniyan biography Arrest the Music! Fela and His Rebel Art and Politics, "Je' Nwi Temi" or "Don't Gag Me" which was released in 1973 is one of Fela's metro songs: "If I see the truth I will say, and you can't shut me up."

This was an attitude he maintained until his death in 1997. If anything, he grew even more outspoken due to his treatment at the hands of the Nigerian authorities. >>>
