Songfacts®:

  • "Staying With It" is a duet between Firefall lead singer Rick Roberts and a guest vocalist, Lisa Nemzo. In the song, their relationship is at a crossroads, but they agree to stay with it and work things out.
  • To this point, Firefall's hits (including "You Are the Woman" and "Cinderella") were written by either Larry Burnett or Rick Roberts, the primary songwriters in the band. This one was written by outside writers: John Parker and Tom Snow. Parker's credits include "Hard Habit To Break" for Chicago and "If You Wanna Get Back Your Lady" by the Pointer Sisters; Snow's co-writes include "Let's Hear It For The Boy" by Deniece Williams and "Don't Know Much" by Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville.
  • This was the last Top 40 hit for Firefall, which after six years in business was collapsing. Rick Roberts and Larry Burnett left the following year, and the group floundered. They never officially broke up, but were inactive for much of the '80s and '90s. Guitarist Jock Bartley kept the band going with various lineups, and they released an occasional album, including Messenger in 1994 and Comet in 2020.
