Songfacts®:

  • This slow, sexy ballad kicks off with a smooth banjo part before easing into an R&B-influenced groove. Tyler Hubbard starts to talk his lady love into a night out on the town.

Girl I know you had a long day
You ain't feelin' them downtown lights
But I got a bottle at your favorite place
Just waitin' for us in a bucket on ice

Hubbard and his FGL partner Brian Kelley succeed in persuading the girl into getting ready to hit the town, but once they see her in the dress she's chosen, they have a change of heart:

Now you're looking like a line from a Vandross song
I'm looking at that fine little dress you got on
Don't get me wrong, girl, I love it
Now I just wanna talk you out of it

A night in with the lady love seems a much better idea now.
  • The steamy slow burner was written by Michael Hardy, who also co-penned "Simple." The other co-writers were Jameson Rodgers, Hunter Phelps and Alysa Vanderheym.

"'Talk You Out of It' has a very different feel for us... It's the baby-making song on the album," Hubbard laughed. "But really, BK and I are always challenging ourselves creatively and knew that we had to record it when we first heard it."

"The vibe was just so money," Kelley added. "Nothing like a good date night in!"
