Songfacts®:

  • The FGL duo of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley penned this Saturday evening ditty with Nashville songwriter Rodney Clawson. The same trio also wrote the hit single "Get Your Shine On" with Chris Tompkins. Tyler Hubbard told Artist Direct: "That's one of the first songs we wrote with our buddy Rodney Clawson. It was just a really good day of writing. We felt great about it. It came together really quickly and easily, which doesn't always happen. It's always a fun song to play live as well. It's just a party song with a creative take. We turned it into a drinking game there for a while there on the road. Every time you hear 'Tip It Back,' everybody would have to drink. It became a fun little anthem! It's a good time."
