Songfacts®:

  • Foxes wrote this song with Jim Eliot (Ellie Goulding's "Anything Could Happen," Olly Murs' "Dear Darlin'"). The collaboration came at a time when the singer was feeling distraught and fragile, having just broken up with a boyfriend. She told HMV.com: "I went to where he lived in Wales, you stay in this cabin in the middle of nowhere and he gave me a lot of freedom in how we worked. He was great to work with.

We wrote 'Body Talk' and 'If You Leave Me Now' together. He had to deal with me being very emotional the whole time, but we got some songs out of it."
  • Q magazine asked Foxes if she thought naming the song "If You Leave Me Now" might invite comparisons with a song that's far more popular. She replied: "Of course after I titled it I was like, 'Oh s--t, that's also an iconic song that everyone knows.' But it was done and dusted. So I had to keep it."
