Songfacts®:

  • Foy Vance is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter. This is a track from The Wild Swan, his first album after signing to Ed Sheeran's Gingerbread Records. The song was inspired by Courteney Cox's daughter Coco Arquette. The 12-year-old also stars in the video, which was directed by her mom. Foy said: "As soon as I wrote the song 'Coco' - which started out as an off-the-cuff verse to make Coco laugh - it was obvious that Courteney would direct the video."
  • Courteney Cox first met Foy Vance through her boyfriend, Snow Patrol pianist Johnny McDaid. The Friends actress told People magazine: "Johnny brought Foy into my life a few years ago, and immediately, he became a very close friend. He also got to know my daughter, Coco, and a song was born."

Cox added: "From the first time Foy played 'Coco' for me – and every time I've heard it since – I've felt he captured, not only Coco's unique personality but also the beautiful childhood innocence that sadly, but inevitably fades with time."
  • A young Courtney Cox famously appeared in the 1984 music video for Bruce Springsteen's " Dancing In The Dark" as the adoring fan pulled onstage to dance with The Boss.
