Songfacts®:

  • Fragma are a German trance/dance group founded in 1998. The following year their first single "Toca Me" was released and it topped several dance charts around the world, and peaked at #11 in the UK charts. "Toca Me" was written by Ramon Zenker and his regular collaborators Dirk and Marco Duderstadt. Ramon Zenker also wrote Bellini's 1997 UK #8 hit "Samba De Janeiro."
  • In 2000, British DJ Vimto had the idea of taking the vocals of Coco's acapella vocals from the song "I Need a Miracle" and mixing it with the music of Fragma's "Toca Me." By amalgamating the titles, it became "Toca's Miracle." He pressed an illegal bootleg which got much attention from leading DJs. As Fragma and Coco were on the same record label at the time, an official release was made, and it went straight to #1 in the UK charts, selling 400,000 copies as well as topping the Australian charts.
  • "I Need a Miracle" by British female singer Coco (born Sue Bryce) was a #32 UK hit in 1997. Rob Davis, the former guitarist of 1970s glam rock group Mud, co-wrote the song. Davis also co-wrote the UK chart toppers "Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)" for Spiller in 2000; and "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" for Kylie Minogue in 2001. Coco had been the lead singer with the group Sub Love, who later evolved into the dance act Way Out West.
  • This was the first UK #1 where the acapella vocals of one track had been mixed with the backing track of another.
  • Ramon Zenker in 1000 UK #1 Hits by Jon Kutner and Spencer Leigh: "One day Dirk and Marco gave me a rough demo with this magic plugged-guitar line which I thought was really good. I called it 'Toca Me.' Toca in Spanish means touch, so it became known as Touch Me." >>
