Songfacts®:

  • This is a half-English, half-Spanish ballad in which Frank Ocean sings of an unrequited passion. He describes the sensation of falling for another man ("Cayendo" means "falling" or "falling down") only to find he doesn't reciprocate the same feelings. Though left heartbroken, Ocean continues to love this guy.
  • Frank Ocean sings the hook in Spanish while the verse and outro is in English. It is the first time he has sung in Spanish on a released song. The chorus translates as:

    He won't talk about me
He won't even talk about this
What he wants from you, I wouldn't deny
If this hasn't broken me already, I will never be broken
If I can stand what I feel, why am I falling?
    Am I falling?
  • Ocean interpolates a line from Sade's 1988 hit "Love is Stronger than Pride" when he sings in the verse: "I still really, really love you, yes, I do."
  • The song is an acoustic ballad in which Spanish guitars accompany Ocean's vocals, matching the Spanish lyrics.
  • Frank Ocean first premiered the track at his PrEP+ nightclub event in New York City on October 17, 2019. He officially released "Caydendo" as a single on vinyl via blonded.co two days later. Ocean eventually released the song onto streaming services on April 3, 2020.
  • Ocean is the song's sole writer. He also produced the track along with Daniel Aged from the California duo Inc. No World. Aged previously contributed to the production of "DHL."
