Songfacts®:

  • The first song to be released from Frank Turner's sixth long player, the singer-songwriter told NME that stylistically and lyrically, it's in the zone of the album. "I'm not saying every song sounds like it, but it conveys the general message of the new record," said Turner. "It's a record about pulling yourself up and dusting yourself down, and about having a s--t year and getting through it, and resolving to not surrender."
  • Frank Turner wrote this after listening to Sam Cooke's One Night Stand! Live at the Harlem Square Club. He told NME: "There was a moment in time when I was wondering whether I was going to make a white soul record. I didn't, which is probably for the best! It's an optimistic song, unashamed, heart on your sleeve. It's not saying 'Don't worry, be happy', it's saying 'Worry, the world is awful, but fight back.'"
