Songfacts®:

  • This is both an "answer song" and a parody of Eamon's "I Don't Want You Back (F--k It!)"; the melody is the same, and the lyrics mock the (far superior) original: "there are two sides to every story and you're cryin' like a bitch," etc.
  • As far as can be ascertained, this is the only answer song ever to knock the original off the top of the singles chart, and likewise it is only the second chart topper in UK chart history, and quite likely any chart history, to contain an explicit swearword in its title. Running to 3 minutes 17 seconds, "FU Right Back" hit the number one spot week ending May 22, 2004 holding it for 3 weeks.
  • In spite of its obvious popularity, one informed critic was unimpressed. In April 2004, Eamon said of his imitator: "It's a nice idea but it sounds so bad! She's got a pitch problem. Good try, bitch, but it's no good!" >>>
