Songfacts®:

  • This song was written by Frankie Miller when he was just twelve years old. He recorded it 11 years later for his debut album, Once in a Blue Moon.
  • The song was covered by Ray Charles (Frankie's mother's favorite singer), on his 1980 album Brother Ray Is At It Again. "Everybody from Etta James to Johnny Cash has done Frankie's songs," Miller's partner Annette told Mojo magazine, "but Ray Charles recording it was a really big deal for Frankie. His mum was still around when that happened that she would never tell Frankie how proud of them she was."
