Welfare Boogie

Songfacts®:

  • This was released in March 1972; a group composition, it was probably inspired by personal experience. The short-lived Fraternity saw hard times including a disastrous UK tour. The song puts a gloss on being unemployed and broke, and its light production gives it an optimistic feel. Bon Scott's vocals are strong but it is surprising that it was chosen as the A-side in preference to the lyrically stronger "Annabelle."
  • "Welfare Boogie" is included on a compilation of early Bon Scott tracks by Raven Records called Seasons Of Change 1967-72. >>>
