Songfacts®:

  • "Talk Of The Town" is a track by Fred again featuring English DJ and producer Sammy Virji, and Reggie (an Irish rapper from Dundalk). It is a house reboot of Reggie's 2022 track of the same name.
  • Fred again, Sammy Virji, and Reggie recorded the track during a live studio session broadcast on Twitch on October 30, 2025, in Dublin, Ireland. They also completed another track, "Did It Again," with Reggie's fellow Irish rappers Travy and Elzzz.
  • "Talk Of The Town" was created unusually quickly. "Some songs I work on take months or even years for me to feel happy with them, this is one of those ones that was about 27 minutes," shared Fred. "Basically three elements and they just felt good from the jump and didn't stop feeling good so here we are!"

"Delilah (Pull Me Out Of This)" is another swiftly created Fred Again track. He made that one in 45 minutes.
  • After wrapping the session, the whole gang marched to Dublin's Button Factory that very night to debut both tracks live. Two days later, they brought the tracks to Dublin's RDS Simmonscourt, which drew around 7,000 people. The official recorded version of "Talk of the Town" was released on November 3, 2025, through Warner Music Group and Atlantic Records.
  • Clocking in at 3:13, "Talk Of The Town" is a high-velocity, hip-hop-infused house number built on a classic four-on-the-floor backbone but then slathered with Sammy Virji's sci-fi synth palette. The track puts Reggie's vocal performance front and center, giving him room to swagger through bars about reputation, community clout, and romantic popularity.
  • The phrase "talk of the town" is an ancient bit of English - 17th-century at least - with even older cousins in Horace and Ovid. It means "the thing everybody is gossiping about." Reggie taps into that lineage with the confidence of someone who knows he's got love all over Dundalk.
  • "Talk of the Town" is part of Fred Again's USB002 project, a globe-trotting extension of his 2022 USB release. The plan: 10 songs in 10 weeks, each paired with a secret gig in a different city. Fans only receive the announcements the weekend before.
  • A fun historical footnote: The Pretenders had their own "Talk Of The Town" in 1980, named after a London nightspot where artists like Frank Sinatra and The Temptations once held court. Different century, different vibe, same basic ambition: get people talking.
