Songfacts®:

  • Fuerza Regida's eighth album, Pero No Te Enamores, is a cross-cultural blend that fuses the pulse of electronic music with the deep, soulful currents of música mexicana. Crafted between Colombia and Mexico City, it's a testament to the global nature of modern music.

"When I first heard (Jersey club) about one or two years ago, I loved it," Fuerza Regida frontman Jesús Ortíz "JOP" Paz told Billboard Español. "I was like, 'Man, I wanna do something with it.' I just didn't know how. But I knew that when I did, they were gonna talk s-–t."

And so, when the time came to craft a new album, JOP decided to dive headfirst into the deep end. "I wanna do Jerseys and dance music. I want to do something different but still keep the original Fuerza Regida [essence], with the guitars."
  • Fuerza Regida's 2023 collaboration with Marshmello, "Harley Quinn," was their first foray into mixing EDM and regional Mexican music. Its success encouraged them to further explore this fusion style on Pero No Te Enamores.
  • The album's focus track, "Nel," exemplifies what he came up with: a mix of EDM and regional Mexican. It opens with a stirring vocal that builds into a powerful crescendo before taking a sharp turn into the unexpected - a mashup of throbbing Jersey club beats and the relentless energy of reggaetón.
  • The title "Nel" is a slang term in Spanish that roughly translates to "no way" or "absolutely not," setting the tone for the song's narrative. JOP details a relentless pursuit of a woman who, despite his best efforts, remains steadfastly uninterested. He expresses his desire for her and his willingness to do just about anything to win her over, but in the end, it's all for naught. The chorus echoes his frustration, as his repeated attempts are ultimately met with the simple, final rejection: "Nel."
  • JOP teamed up with Miguel Armenta and Twenty9 to co-produce the track.

Armenta, a longtime collaborator with Fuerza Regida, played a major role in their 2023 album Pa Las Baby's y Belikeada, contributing to 19 of the 30 tracks, including the singles "TQM," "Sabor Fresa," and "Harley Quinn."

On the other hand, Twenty9 made his debut with the group in 2024, working on three tracks for Pero No Te Enamores.
