Songfacts®:

  • "Too Fast" finds Future leaning into his familiar themes: indulging in the fast life, splurging on fleeting relationships, and perhaps not entirely minding that the women in question don't stick around long enough to unpack.

But "Too Fast" goes a bit deeper, playing with the notion that maybe, just maybe, all this rapid success came at a price. The song toys with the idea that life in the fast lane - complete with money, women, and fame - might be moving too quickly for its own good. Future's introspective lyrics tap into a sense of unease, as if he's questioning whether the breakneck pace of it all is sustainable.
  • The production team behind the track, Taurus, DJ Champ, McCoy and Ike Made, crafted a sound that's unmistakably Future but with a twist. His signature trap beats are there, but the tempo is dialed down ever so slightly, giving the track a laid-back, almost reflective vibe. The mellow beat works as a counterpoint to the lyrics, a steady undercurrent to the frenetic pace of the life Future's describing.

Taurus is an Atlanta-based DJ and producer who's also Gunna's tour DJ and hype man. Taurus played a key role in producing Gunna's Wunna and DS4Ever albums, and also co-produced Future's "Worst Day" single.
  • The beat samples "1000 Times" by Coco O, a Danish singer-songwriter who used to be part of the soul-pop duo Quadron.
