Songfacts®:

  • This song's somber lyrics appear to reference the tragic events of 2012 when Barlow's fourth child, Poppy, was stillborn. Just a week later, Barlow performed with Take That at the London Olympics closing ceremony. He sings:

"How can I make sure I fool everyone?
Gotta wear a suit and tie and put my bravest face on
And it's far too deep to show you this wound
    I'm dying inside."

Barlow admitted to The Daily Telegraph: "That's such a depressing song, it was on and off the album. It comes with a government health warning. But most people have at some point got to pick themselves up – you've got to turn up for work and get on with it. I can be stood here, loaded with stuff, but I don't want to tell anyone, and by you all ignoring it, you are actually helping me right now."

  • Jay Hellman from MichiganThis is a powerful song-sad, yet healing. I would love to have this song but understandably, it is one that’s difficult to put out there. Is there ever going to be a time when it will be released? I love and have all of your music. This would be a great addition. Thank you.
