Songfacts®:

  • Written by Wyatt Earp and Keith Gattis, "Goin' Goin' Gone" finds George Strait unwinding at a corner bar after a long week's work:

Come Monday morning, I just might be overdrawn
But it's Friday night, so I'm goin', goin', gone

"It's one of my favorite cuts," Strait said. "It's a fun song that if I was drinking a cold beer with some buddies, I'd want to hear."
  • "Going, going, gone!" is a phrase commonly associated with being an auctioneer's traditional announcement that bidding is closing and this is the last chance to have something. Bob Dylan recorded a song titled "Going, Going, Gone" for his 1974 Planet Waves album and Lee Greenwood had a 1984 #1 Country hit with a song that had the same title.
