Songfacts®:

  • Running to a shade over two minutes, "Disappear" was the singer-songwriter Gilbert O'sullivan's debut single; it was released on the CBS label in November 1967, and the title was prophetic; the song soon vanished up its own exhaust pipe - he clearly had not yet refined his vocal delivery. The uptempo B-side "You" was better received. >>>

  • This ditty gave a preview of O. Sullivan's quirky songwriting style. In the song, he's in some kind of dream state, wondering what's wrong with everyone around him when in fact he is the one who is not right.
