Songfacts®:

  • "Prayers" was the third single released off of Glass Eye's debut EP, Somewhere, Nowhere.

Glass Eye told Songfacts: "'Prayers' is about giving into/and resisting the allure of the second sight fueled by hallucinatory chemicals like DMT. The answers to all we seek lie behind the veil, but every trip into the unknown rips a bit out of your rational soul, with sometimes very little gained. The video portrays this experience in a surrealistic approach."

DMT is short for N,N-dimethyltryptamine. It's found naturally in flora and fauna alike, but it's also sometimes consumed by psychonauts as a psychedelic drug. It's sometimes use for simple recreation, but most people find the effect too heavy for lighthearted fun. Those who use it are mostly looking for profound spiritual or psychological experiences. "Prayers" is coming from that frame of thinking.
