Songfacts®:

  • Glasvegas frontman James Allen told the Observer Music Monthly December 2008 that this wintry ballad explores the solitude peculiar to Christmas when, "all your emotions are blown up."
  • This was the title track from Glasvegas' mini Christmas album, which was recorded in a cathedral that had been converted into a recording studio. Allen explained to the Observer Music Monthly that as a child, he "always wondered what Transylvania looked like, as it was the "embodiment of otherness." He added: "So when I decided I wanted to make a Christmas album I just knew I had to come here."
